This Year’s Theme:
If you could visit any place in our universe—near or far—where would you go?
Have you ever wondered what the world might look like from the top of a mountain, or what animals you might find at the bottom of the ocean? Every day we learn more and more about our universe through exploration—traveling to new and unfamiliar places to gain new experiences and discover the world around us.
This year’s Calendar Project invites students to create artworks inspired by this spirit of discovery. Students can use their imaginations to travel the world, take a boat across the oceans, or fly a rocket to outer space. Projects can focus on any environment or subject, but should be directed by students’ unique interests.
The Marquis Studios Calendar project is open to all NYC DOE District 75 schools and students. Please note that while schools may submit multiple artworks for consideration, only one submission per school will be selected for the calendar.
ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE:
-High Resolution Photo of Original Artwork (JPG or PNG files only)
-2-3 Photographs of Students creating the artwork
-Brief Artist Statement addressing the questions (600 characters max.): How and why did students select the subject of their piece? What did your students learn while exploring the calendar theme? How have your students benefited from this project?
