Marquis Studios welcomes Executive Director Paula Heitman

Former teaching artist, seasoned educator and leader Paula Heitman joins the Marquis Studios Team!


New York, NY – Marquis Studios proudly announces Paula Heitman as Executive Director of the 42-year old non-profit arts and education service provider. Ms. Heitman has extensive experience with grant writing, development, strategic planning and event management. With a career centered around serving marginalized student populations, including students from low-income households and students with disabilities, Paula believes in equity and excellence for all students.


Paula brings over 25 years of programmatic and senior administrative experience to Marquis Studios. She began working with elementary and middle school students as a teaching artist while earning her Masters of Arts in Educational Theater from New York University. After graduating, Paula became a high school drama teacher in the New York City public school system. From there, Paula moved to the non-profit sector working with organizations such as TADA!, Urban Arts Partnership (previously known as Working Playground) and Breakthrough NY. Paula’s most recent position was Executive Director of Families First, a non-profit early childhood center in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. To read Paula’s full bio click here.


The Support Center for Non-profit Management handled the executive search, following an in-depth organizational assessment conducted in coordination with the Board of Directors, Interim Executive Director, and staff. The assessment informed the criteria for the ideal candidate and from there, the search and recruitment phase began. The Support Center will provide 12-months post-hire assistance, working with Executive Director Paula Heitman and the Board of Directors to help ensure a seamless transition.
