PUPPETRY
In this workshop a seasoned, professional puppeteer will demonstrate how parents can use puppetry to encourage their children to express feelings, thoughts and concerns, as well as their favorite characters and stories through the creation of puppets and performances. This workshop is particularly useful for families of ESL/LEP students and students with special needs, as puppetry is a very effective method of improving communication skills – students find opportunities for expression in the creation of puppets, sets, scripts, and dramatic choices during performance. This workshop never fails to engage parent-child teams with the challenge of presenting a treasured story, and leaves parents equipped to help their children continue creating puppetry shows at home using low-cost, common household items when other art supplies are not readily available.
