I hope this finds you remaining safe and healthy. As the summer begins to wind down and we start to prepare for the new school year, I wanted to share some highlights from the spring.
Like so many non-profit organizations, Marquis Studios was deeply impacted by COVID19; however, because of the commitment and resiliency of our Staff, Teaching Artists and Board of Directors we were able to pivot quickly to address the changing needs the school communities we serve.
Last spring, we received emergency relief funding from several sources, which allowed us to manage our operational expenses, so we could focus our efforts on supporting schools. As we look towards the future, we remain committed to our schools and to the teachers, students and families of those communities.
We have spent the last several months preparing for the ways in which we can continue to provide our schools with high quality arts programming – remotely, or in a blended model – we are ready.
Hector Morales has been a Teaching Artist with Marquis Studios for over 20 years. Below is a video highlight from his remote spring residency at one of our long time school partners, The Esteban Vicente School in The Bronx.
Now, more than ever, we need your continued support to provide the high-quality arts programming that our schools continue to rely on for their students’ creative outlet, and to address their social and emotional needs.
We are so grateful for all the support we have received during these challenging times and we hope that you will continue to be by our side as our work in the schools continues in the year to come!
