As part of the Kennedy Center’s 2016 Irish Festival, Master Portrait Painter, Liam O’Neill conducted a workshop for students at Public School 111 in Manhattan. Prior to Mr. O’Neill’s professional career as an artist, he worked as an educator, teaching students with disabilities in Ireland.
On May 24 th , Mr. O’Neill stepped back into the classroom to teach the students at 111M about painting and Ireland. Students in the 2nd and 3rd grade collaborated to paint a large-scale mural based on one of Mr. O’Neill’s paintings. The end result was quite spectacular!
We would like to thank everyone who helped make this workshop possible: Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith, Liam O’Neill, Betty Siegel, Mandy Williams, Principal Edward Gilligan, Assistant Principal Clara Harvey, and Nicole Christensen
