Announcing our 2024 Arts Advocate

Marquis Studios is delighted to announce that the 2024 Arts Advocate Award will be presented to Susan Gross Sholinsky, of the law firm Epstein Becker and Green, P.C.

Susan will be recognized at the 2024 Spring Benefit for her invaluable contributions, which have helped Marquis Studios sustain our work with NYC public schools. Over the past several years, Susan has provided Marquis Studios with crucial pro-bono legal services. In addition to her work advising us on HR matters and employee benefits, Susan was steadfast in her support of our work as we navigated the challenging issues during the pandemic. She seamlessly guided us through the new federal, state and city policies and procedures surrounding health and safety requirements during the early days of COVID.

The Arts Advocate Award was the brainchild of Marquis Studios founder, David Marquis. David wanted a way to celebrate people who support the arts, either personally or professionally, and honor those who have impacted the lives of those served by Marquis Studios arts programs. Over the years, Marquis Studios has honored many outstanding leaders with the Arts Advocate Award. The award recognizes people who are compassionate, generous, and dedicated to helping bring the arts to NYC public schools; people who are leaders in their communities; people who inspire and empower others and who make a real difference in the lives of New York City public school students. Past recipients of this award include the following:

· Dorothy Devlin - Founding partner, DEVLINHAIR Productions, and longtime member of the Marquis Studios Board of Directors
· Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith – Founder, The Kennedy Center Office of VSA & Accessibility (formerly Very Special Arts)
· Carmen Farina – former Chancellor, New York City Public Schools
· Paul King – former Executive Director, New York City Public Schools Arts Office

Marquis Studios recognizes the tremendous contributions of those that support arts education in New York City's public schools through their work with Marquis Studios and we celebrate these contributions at our annual Spring Benefit.

About Our Honoree
Susan Gross Sholinsky is a Member of the Firm at Epstein Becker Green. She is a Board member, chairs the National Employment, Labor & Workforce Management Steering Committee, and is a member of the Firm’s Women’s Initiative Executive Committee. Among her many professional and community volunteer initiatives, she has served multiple years as New York Co-Chair of 50/50 Women on Boards: Global Conversation on Board Diversity, is a Trustee at the Dalton School, and was recognized as one of 2020’sResponsible 100 by City & State New York, an award bestowed upon private-sector leaders whose work makes life better in communities in New York City and across the state. She gives employers the tools they need to makes mart decisions about their workforce challenges.
